A Big Leap Forward
The Proforge 3.5 is made faster, easier to use, and more reliable.
Proforge 3.5 Upgrade
2020 aluminium extrusions replace the top panel for greater structural rigidity.
Cast aluminium brackets hold the corners together to ensure the frame stays square.
Faster X/Y Motors
The high torque 59N.cm NEMA 17 motors replace the the old 40N.cm motors for higher speeds and accelerations resulting in faster and sharper prints.
Copper & Titanium Heatbreak
The Copper aids in creating a sharper transition temperature gradient, this prevents heat creep and in turn hotend jams.
The results are a smoother, more reliable and faster flow of filament.
Titanium is used for strength.
For use with the Dual Switching Hotend two Bi-Metalic Heatbreaks are included.
Higher quality thermistors provides more accurate temperature readings.
A brass sleeving and coiled steel wiring harness ensures reliable operation at sustained high temperatures.
CNC'd Probe Mount
The 3D printed part is replaced with an aluminium one for easier installation/adjustment and greater stability of the probe.
We've added four aluminium brackets to the corners of the top frame to ensure that it stays square.
The front idlers are now also supported with aluminium brackets.
The platform also has four aluminium brackets which hold the extrusions flat.
Klipper Firmware and Mainsail
Operating directly from a Raspberry Pi (not included) Klipper firmware is fast and easy to operate.
Input shaping which involves actively dampening vibrations based on the printers own mechanical resonance significantly improves print quality at high speeds.
Use Mainsail to control your printer, start/stop prints, adjust firmware settings and monitor prints via webcam.
Quad Bed Levelling
4 Independent Z-Motors
By adding two additional Z-motors, which are controlled individually, we're able to have something quite special - true 4-point mechanical bed levelling.
NOTE: The total z-height of the print volume is reduced by 3cm from 30cm to 27cm. The x/y dimensions remain 30cmx30cm.
Linear Rails, Plum Couplings and Aluminium Brackets
The motion runs on 4 MGN12 Linear Rails with upgraded Plum Couplings that remove backlash.
The platform is comprised of an additional two 2020 profile extrusions and four 4mm thick aluminium brackets.
Altogether it's a very solid setup.
5" Touch Screen
5" Capacitive Touch Screen
A large capacitive touch screen that runs directly off the Raspberry Pi gives you complete and reliable control over your printer, right from your printer.
Enclosure Panels for v3.5
Due to the adjustments made to the top portion of the printer additional panels are needed to complete the enclosure.
Those panels have been highlighted in blue on the CAD model. They will be powder coated black, 0.8mm steel panels.
3D Printed Parts
The 3D printed parts (in red) are printed in eSun ABS+ which has greater mechanical properties over ordinary ABS.
It can also withstand ambient temperatures of up to 100°C, which means the parts will hold up inside the enclosure.
Raspberry Pi 4
The 3.5 upgrade will require a Raspberry Pi to run. Due to the global chip shortage supply of these boards is still difficult in bulk.
However, you should be able to source one locally. We recommend the Pi 4 2GB variant.
The Pi 3B+ will also work.
