Yes, that's right!
3D Printing is an amazing technology but remains difficult and expensive for the average person to use - we now aim to change this.
The AXIS 3D Printer is one of the most affordable 3D Printers ever made and perfect for anyone keen to dive into the futuristic world of desktop 3D Printing, without having to break the bank!
Our printer is based on open-source technology with tried and tested industry standard components designed to work right, first time.
The £99 price was achieved by creating a design that merged together the motion system and frame of the printer whilst keeping the part count to a minimum. This way we can offer high quality components but for a far lower price.
It's worth mentioning that our margins are low, so we need your support to order large enough quantities to make the AXIS 3D Printer a success - but we will deliver and our pledge goal is very realistic for doing so!
The AXIS 3D printer has a spec sheet to rival many of its higher priced counterparts and at £99 you're paying less than 1 pence per CM ³ of build space!
Thousands of hours of development and testing has gone in to make sure that the AXIS 3D printer functions as intended, again and again.
Furthermore a finalised design with components already selected are ready to order as soon as the campaign ends.
Use the AXIS 3D Printer to print virtually any plastic object from toys and models to more practical items ranging from bike grips to shower heads! Explore the full range of possibilities on the popular model sharing site myminifactory.com.
Or take things further with the free and easy to use design software TinkerCAD to print your own unique objects!
The AXIS 3D Printer is shipped as an easy to assemble kit with a very high quality online build manual with high-res images and easy to follow steps that break down the entire assembly process into easy to understand stages. Plus you also have the ability to comment under each and every step in case you get stuck.
The Assembly process should be half the fun, and give you an in-depth look at how your 3D Printer goes together and works, knowledge that will come in handy later for upgrades and maintenance.
A massive online community, easy maintenance, affordable off the shelf parts and entirely hackable are just some of the things that open-source technology provides.
The AXIS 3D Printer runs on the latest version of the very popular Marlin Firmware and works with the vast majority of industry standard software.
The AXIS 3D Printer is also compatible with a number of other very standard 3d printer hardware, ranging from hotends, nozzles, sensors, build-plates, and much more!
Also, the custom parts designed by us will have all of their manufacturing blueprints available for free download from our website after the campaign ends.
- Advanced automatic bed-levelling comes as standard on the AXIS 3D Printer, meaning a perfect first layer each and every time.
- The 300x200x200mm (12x8x8inch) build volume gives you plenty of space to bring your ideas to life, that's less than 1 pence for every CM³ of build space!
- A steel and aluminium construction means a very solid and vibration free machine that will just keep on performing even after thousands of hours of printing!
- The 24V power supply provides the AXIS 3D Printer with super quick heat-up times and smooth motion.
- A steel drive gear grips firmly onto the filament that results in extreme precision over the flow of plastic through the hotend.
- The all metal hotend can get to temperatures of up to 270 degrees Celsius, perfect for printing the vast majority of materials.
Our unique motion system merges the frame, print platform and gantry to work together to create perfectly rigid and parallel motion. The folded metal edges reinforce the parts themselves whilst also providing a curved surface for linear guides to latch onto.
The linear guides themselves are made from HDPE (High Density Polyethylene), an incredibly rigid material with an extremely low co-efficient of friction resulting in incredibly smooth motion.
Furthermore the kit also includes PTFE grease for the contact between the linear guides and the metal frame to really achieve the smoothest possible motion.
The brains of the AXIS 3D Printer is the all in one MKS GEN_L control board running the latest version of the open-source Marlin firmware.
The stock drivers are the strong and reliable A4988 chips that control the motion of 4 full sized NEMA 17 stepper motors. We're also including a spare A4988 stepper driver too.
The power supply is an external 24V 4A brick suitable for both 110V and 230V mains outlets.
Upgrade electronics include an LCD display with click wheel control, a beefy external MOSFET for controlling the heated bed and the silent TMC2208 stepper drivers.
The Octoprint upgrades includes a Raspberry Pi camera and we're recommending to use it with the powerful Raspberry Pi 3B+ (sold separately).
Expand the standard capabilities of the AXIS 3D Printer by adding the following plug and play upgrades. You can mix and match any combination of upgrades or add them all for the ultimate experience!
Before printing, a model needs to be processed by a "slicing software", where a 3D model (.stl file) is converted into a .gcode file that the printer can read.
The Makertech Edition of CURA, is an open-source slicing software with settings tuned to work seamlessly with the AXIS 3D printer. It is available for both Windows and MAC.
Randomized testing of the metal parts allows us to make sure that the parts coming off of our assembly lines are with in specification.
All of the electronics under go rigorous testing also and are marked with a QC sticker after inspection before being packaged, ensuring that you receive the AXIS 3D Printer as we intended.
In the slim case you do receive a faulty part or one that was damaged in transit or one that was even missing we'll send out a replacement for you right away for up to an entire year after your purchase!
